Jim Croce is my frist favorite artist. He was so special. He wrote catchy songs about tough guys and blue collar workers. He also wrote sensitive love songs that showed how much he loved and respected women. I always felt like I knew Jim Croce. When I listen to him sing, I feel like I'm listening to a friend. Such songs as "Time in a Bottle," "Bad, Bad Leroy Brown," "Operator," and "I Got a Name" are simply timeless. I particulary love "Operator." In this song, he tells an operator about his love that left him for his best friend. He pours his heart out to the operator and even has tears in his eyes. Sadly, Jim Croce died in a plane crash at the young age of 30 on September 20, 1973. His plane crashed into a tree at take-off. His music will live on forever. Check out Jim Croce's website.
